LAPAY BANTIGUE DANCE FESTIVAL BAGS CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD

We are the champion!

This is the statement that reverberates in the Ecofield of Daet, Camarines Norte as Masbate City swept again the Grand Champion in the 13th Gayon Bicol Festival of Festivals showdown held last June 23, 2015.

It was a proud moment for the Lapay Bantigue Dance contingent when they were pronounce the Grand Champion as well as Best in Costume, Best in Festival Queen and Best in Costume for Festival Queen. They brought home a total cash prize of P 610,000.00.

The Contingent is composed of 100 dancers and 50 instrumentalists from the different elementary, secondary and tertiary schools in the City and out-of-school youth. Their passion and determination of advancing the Lapay Bantigue Dance in their hearts have greatly contributed to the festival’s success.

Accordingly, the strong support and commitment to sustain the gains of Lapay Festival of the Local Government Unit of Masbate headed by the City Mayor Hon. Rowena R. Tuason, contingent head – Ms Esperanza D. Carullo the City Tourism Officer, LGU support staff employees, parents, teachers, school heads is the strong pillar that brought victory and success of Lapay Bantigue Dance Festival. In fact, this is the fourth time the City has been adjudged as the grand winner competing against the festivals in the Provinces and Cities of the Bicol Region.

The choreography of Lapay Bantigue Dance depicts the symbol of religiosity, abundance, artistry and festivity of Lapay Bantigue Dance. The performance of stylistic strong appeal showcasing the strength of survival of Heron locally known as Lapay along the estuarines of coastal barangays of the city, particularly in Barangay Bantigue, has brought a cheering triumph allowing a seamless vision of hope and pride towards a harmonious and united Masbatenos.

Lupad Lapay! Viva Santa Felomina! This ecstatic chant has been left in the people and the land of Bicolandia. May this culture continuously imprint in the hearts of Masbatenos – to never stop soaring high and promoting our Lapay.
